Lily's of Tubac

New Gifts

After working twenty-five years as a professional abstract artist and instructor, Shirley Johnson retired from painting and teaching. She moved with her husband to Mexico where she developed a passion for "everything rustic." After returning to Arizona, she began collecting "found objects" (small pieces of metal, leather and weathered wood) and reassembling them into beautiful new art objects. Before long she realized she was no longer retired, just advancing to a new phase of her art career by creating "all things rustic."

As a creator of beautiful rustic crosses, framed mirrors and interesting art objects, she proudly announces herself as a modern day folk artist and the ultimate collector/creator of 'refined junk."
